(WKBN) – The Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board has found a unique way to thank first responders as they continue to fight the opioid epidemic.
The board is using a $1,200 state grant to pay for a thank you commercial that shows local firefighters, EMTs and police officers doing their jobs as they respond to those with addictions.
“The first responders are first on the scene when someone has a drug overdose. Our drug overdoses are up again, so we know their jobs are so hard, working with family members trying to save lives, trying to get people the help they need. We just appreciate their work with our families,” said April Caraway, the board’s executive director.
Trumbull County Commissioners also named the week of April 29 through May 3 as Appreciation Week for First Responders.
