NEW CASTLE, Pa. (WKBN) Police in New Castle are looking for a man they say robbed a convenient store Monday in Lawrence County.
Police say 19-year-old Kevin Gardner and an unnamed 16-year-old robbed the Minute Mart on Wilmington Road.
The men were wearing masks and one of them had a gun, police said. Investigators say the teens threatened the employee of the store and ran away with cash, cigarettes, the employee’s cellular phone and the store phone.
The phone was tracked to a residence on South Front Street in New Castle. Police searched the house and found clothes, a mask, shoes and a phone they believe are connected to the robbery.
Police noted when they approached the house, several people were inside and two of them ran away after shots were fired nearby from an unrelated incident.
Of the people that remained in the house, officers questioned a 16-year-old who they say admitted to his involvement in the robbery. Officers also identified the other suspect, Gardner, as one of the people who ran away from the house.
The 16-year-old was charged as an adult with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. He was arraigned and placed into the Lawrence County Jail.
A warrant has been issued for Gardner.
