William Ratliff, charged with a purse snatching in New Castle.

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (WKBN) – New Castle police have arrested a suspect that they say was involved in a purse-snatching earlier this week on S. Mill Street.

The victim called police on Thursday, reporting that a man approached her as she was getting out of her car and asked her for money. She said he then grabbed her purse, knocking her to the ground.

The man ran away with the woman’s purse.

Police said they were able to identify the robber as 30-year-old William Ratliff as a result of interviews through the neighborhood.

Police said a search of Ratliff’s apartment uncovered clothing and other items that were worn by the robber.

When questioned, Ratliff admitted to robbing the woman and turned over her purse with all of its contents, according to police.

He’s expected to be arraigned Saturday on the charges.
