AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A man was killed Friday evening in Austintown when the motorcycle he was driving collided with an SUV.

The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. on the Route 46 bridge over Interstate 80. The 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle could be seen lying in the middle of the road.

The driver of the motorcycle was 54-year-old Stephen Paynter of Austintown. The driver of the SUV was 26-year-old Angelica Burns of Youngstown.

Burns was southbound on Route 46 and was attempting to turn east onto I-80.

Burns failed to yield and turned in front of Paynter causing him to hit her vehicle, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He was thrown from his motorcycle and died at the scene.

Burns was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt. Paynter was not wearing a helmet.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit was on the scene and is assisting with the investigation. The Austintown Police and Fire Department also assisted on the scene.

Charges are pending.
