The mother who lost her five children in a house fire is recovering and making progress in a Cleveland Hospital.
America Negron-Acevedo, 26, is now in fair condition, according to Tina Shaerban-Arundel, the manager of Media and Public Relations for MetroHealth Hospital in Cleveland.
America, also known as Amy, was flown to MetroHealth after suffering burns and injuries from a house fire that claimed the lives of her five young children Sunday night.
Acevedo made it out of the house but was injured after jumping from a second-story window.
The fire department confirmed the rental house did have working smoke detectors and was last inspected in July.
