Thomas Reed, Jr., charged with bribery in Boardman, Ohio

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Lawrence County man is due back in court next month, accused of trying to bribe a Boardman police officer almost a decade ago.

Thomas Reed, Jr. was arrested in July of 2010 following a traffic stop.

After his initial appearance in court, however, he never returned and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Reports at the time state that Reed admitted drinking that night and became verbally abusive — even threatening to kill officers and their families, saying, “Say goodbye to your loved ones. I got 50 goons. I’ll pay $1,000 to murder you.”

At one point, the report claims he offered $1,000 to have the case “go away.”

He turned himself in Thursday night and was released from jail on Friday morning.
