Man shot in Howland driveway after bar fight, police say

HOWLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – A man was taken to the hospital after a fight in Howland Sunday night.

Just before 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a house in the 2500 block of Commonwealth Ave. NE after a caller told dispatchers he shot someone in his driveway.

When they got there, police said the homeowner was standing in the driveway with his gun at his feet. Another man was lying in the driveway with a gunshot wound.

According to a police report, the homeowner was involved in a fight with the other man at a local bar earlier in the evening.

The homeowner told investigators after he went back home less than an hour later, the man showed up at his house and came after him with a hunting knife. The homeowner said he shot at the man.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Investigators are working with the Trumbull County Prosecutor’s Office to determine if any charges will be filed.
