NEW CASTLE, Pa. (WKBN) – A man is facing 18 criminal charges after New Castle police officers were called to investigate shots fired on Locust Street.

It happened around 10:18 p.m. Wednesday, according to police.

Officers were previously called to that area for what they called “criminal mischief to vehicles” in which Delaughn Searcy was identified as a suspect.

When officers arrived, they reported finding at least 10 shell casings in the street. They learned that a nearby house had been hit with four rounds.

Police said Searcy was seen driving a silver Hyundai through the area. They spotted a vehicle matching that description on Boyles Avenue.

Police said they tried to stop the car, but the driver — Searcy — refused to stop until he got to Park Avenue, where he was arrested.

Police said a handgun with an empty magazine was found near the vehicle as well as a ripped bag containing almost 17 grams of crack cocaine.

Police arrested Searcy and placed him into a holding cell where they say he pulled a lighter from his pants and began removing his clothes and setting them on fire. That caused smoke throughout the bulding.

Searcy faces the following charges:

— Persons Not to Possess Firearms

Searcy is being held in the Lawrence County Jail on $50,000 bond.
