It’s October and the leaves are changing colors, and so is a Mahoning County police vehicle.

The cruiser is changing from black to pink in support of breast cancer awareness month.

The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown to create and put on the design and paint job.

It took just over a couple of weeks for the cruiser’s transformation.

An employee at the sheriff’s office is a breast cancer survivor. She says to see people helping bring awareness keeps her pushing.

“When people that aren’t even affected necessarily want to do something like this it just you are so lucky to have people like this want to do something for the community it’s a very humbling experience and situation altogether,” said Laura Castellano, a breast cancer survivor.

The sheriff’s office hopes this will get people to donate to the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center in Youngstown.

They are also going to take the cruiser to as many functions in the community as they can.
