ASHTABULA, Ohio (WKBN) – A lockdown has been lifted at Kent State University’s Ashtabula campus.
According to a Kent State University spokesperson, the Ashtabula Police Department asked campus police to put the facility on lockdown at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday because of police activity in the area.
The lockdown was lifted at about 9:20 a.m.
A KSU spokesman said at no time was the campus in imminent danger.
The Star Beacon reports that police arrested a man after reports of shots fired in the area. Police told the newspaper that a man fired off shots after an argument with family members.
According to KSU, the incident happened a few blocks away from campus, and the lockdown was precautionary.
