Local schools collaborate to provide students with affordable prom dresses

Project Prom Salem and West Branch

A local student project between West Branch and Salem Hgh School is looking to make prom more affordable for classmates.

Project Prom helps girls in need of a dress for the dance. The dresses are free and allow girls to choose their prom attire.

Two students working with the program explained how it works.

“High school girls can come in and get a prom dress for free. All the dresses are donated,” said Halle Cochran from Salem High School.

“It’s encouraged that you give the dresses back because really you only use them once and you return them so that other people can use them,” said Gloriana Maendel from West Branch High School.

The event is taking place at the administration building in Salem. There is a variety of sizes and styles available.

The building is open between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
