YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – There is some good news for swimmers looking forward to using Youngstown’s public pool this summer.
There are plenty of certified lifeguards already in place.
Northside Pool will open June 5. Entry is $1 for children and $2 for anyone over 18.
Dawn Turnage, director of Youngstown’s Parks and Recreation Department, said teaming up with the Jewish Community Center for training helped with the lifeguards this year.
“Building that relationship with the Jewish Community Center has allowed us the opportunity to not only bring back four lifeguards from last season but have an additional two lifeguards that have already passed the test for certification, and there’s another class soon in which we will have additional lifeguards who will be passing and joining us,” she said.
The Jewish Community Center provided the swimming lessons and the lifeguard certifications for free.
Another lifeguarding class is scheduled in two weeks. If you would like to get more information, call the JCC at 330-746-3250
