Liberty Mutual is eliminating 136 jobs in New Castle.
Glenn Greenberg, a company spokesperson, confirms that 68 service and support positions are being eliminated as part of changes being made to the company’s operation model countrywide.
“Beginning in May, we will transition our New Castle customer response center and claims service center, each with approximately 210 employees, to virtual, work-from-home operations,” said Glenn Greenberg, of Liberty Mutual. “This, coupled with an expansion of relationships with external partners to handle some of our customer service and claims service call volume, will, unfortunately, result in the elimination of 68 service and support positions.”
Liberty Mutual is also closing its personal insurance claims central billing unit, impacting 68 additional employees.
Greenberg said impacted employees who are not in a work-from-home function will have the opportunity to pursue other job openings at Liberty Mutual. Others will be offered outplacement assistance.
Greenberg said 130 other New Castle employees are not directly impacted by this change.
