Last Chevy Cruze built in Lordstown auctioned off to benefit United Way

SPRINGFIELD TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown’s Mary Pipino is now the proud owner of the last Chevy Cruze to roll off the GM Lordstown assembly line back in March.

Pipino is the sister-in-law of businessman Ed Muransky, who bought the last Cruze and donated it to an online auction for the United Way.

After more than a month, that online auction ended at 9 p.m. Friday night, but just 45 minutes later, Pipino bid higher and bought the car for $35,000.

Pipino says she’s honored to have won and plans to put the car to good use.

“We’re gonna figure out a way, how this car is gonna be able to be used to give back to the community, you know, with the kids and United Way. We want to make it something where, you know, it’s meaningful and we can give back,” she said.

The money will be donated to the United Way for programs in the community.

The car was awarded at the United Way Centennial Anniversary Dinner at the Lake Club.
