(WKBN) – As temperatures continue to rise, it is important for residents to take some extra care of their pets.
Pets love to be outside, but they can develop problems from overheating. Their body temperatures increase as the heat climbs.
Paula Carella from the Northeast Ohio Lab Rescue said you need to make sure to help them stay healthy and cool this summer.
“Plenty of water, some shade. They have things like cooling mats now that the dogs can lay on and brings their body temperatures down if they are outside on a hot day. There’s a lot of things you can do. Swimming pools, most of the labs love to take a dip, so that’s always good too,” Carella said.
Some dogs do better than others in the heat, so it’s important to know your pet.
