HUBBARD TWP. (WKBN) – An antique car was destroyed Friday when it caught fire in a garage in Hubbard Township.
It happened in the 3000 block of Pothour Wheeler Road. Firefighters first got the call just before 11:30 a.m.
Liberty Fire Chief Douglas Theobald says they believe the fire started after an antique Pontiac GTO backfired in the garage after it had stalled.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the car and contain the fire to the garage.
“Most of the heat and fire damage is in the upper portion of the garage. The attic and the garage are a common attic over the house, so there was some smoke damage, and there’s a little water damage to the family room on the back side of the garage,” Theobald said.
Responding fire departments included the Eagle Joint Fire District, Vienna, Brookfield, Liberty, Coitsville, Youngstown Air Reserve Station, and Shenango Township
No one was hurt.
