Hubbard mom cited after child found wandering for third time

Local News

A mother in Hubbard was cited after her child was found wandering alone for the third time in three years.

According to a police report, officers were called about 8:07 a.m. last Thursday to Center Street after a 6-year-old girl was reported wandering the neighborhood without a coat. The temperature at the time was 36 degrees.

The girl told officers that she was looking for her dad. She was found about one mile from where she lives on School Street.

Officers took the girl to school where officials identified her.

After the child was dropped off at school, her mother, 32-year-old Kelly Huffman, came to the police station where she told officers she didn’t know her daughter was missing, the report stated.

Police say Huffman told them that the girl’s father lives in apartments on Gladys St. S.E.

Police noted Huffman’s child was found wandering alone in July 2016 and then again in the morning hours in February 2017.

Huffman was issued a citation for child endangering, and Trumbull County Children Services was notified.
