If you are looking to stay physically and mentally fit, a rehabilitation hospital in Howland is hosting a series of talks on mindful living.
This is the second year for the series at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital.
The focus is providing programs that help people develop healthy behaviors.
Dr. Daniel Winkle said the idea starts with self-care, helping people learn to handle stress or other chronic health problems. Also, being more aware of what’s going on in your body and emotions.
“All kinds of different things are involved in self-care: exercise, breathing, meditation, new spirituality, autogenic training, and guided imagery. There are a huge number of things that people can do to engage in that,” Winkle said. “It can be used both to alleviate and treat problems you may already have. There are a number of techniques. We talk about things like exercise, relaxation, breathing, yoga – that can definitely be used for prevention as well.”
The Healthy Living Series programs begin at 5 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of every month at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, 8747 Squires Lane N.E., Howland.
The program is free but registration is requested by calling (330) 841-3893.
