Homemade bomb left in car forces Warren neighborhood to evacuate

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A homemade bomb forced a Warren neighborhood to evacuate on Thursday afternoon, police said.

It happened on West Avenue NW around 2:45 p.m.

Officers said 45-year-old David Foor put the bomb made with Drano in the back seat of his ex-girlfriend’s car.

The woman called 911, saying it was smoking on the back seat. Police said she told them Foor has a history of making explosives.

“My ex-boyfriend makes these ‘works bombs.’ He mixes these chemicals and it’s in the back seat of my car and it’s smoking. It’s smoking. I don’t know when it’s going to explode,” the woman told dispatchers.

Police evacuated the entire block for about an hour-and-a-half just to be safe because they saw the container expanding.

By the time the Youngstown Bomb Squad arrived on scene, the “bomb” had already put itself out.

Foor is facing charges of aggravated menacing and misconduct at an emergency.

He was arraigned in court on Friday, where bond was set at $15,000. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
