Hermitage PD: Drunk driver’s police chase ends when she gets stuck in the mud

Local News

HERMITAGE, Pa. (WKBN) – Police said a drunk driver who led them on a slow chase had to be tased because she kept fighting against officers trying to arrest her.

It started when police tried to pull over a car on S. Hermitage Road around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police said the driver — 64-year-old Margaret Kane, of Pulaski — wouldn’t stop, leading them on a slow-moving chase into Farrell.

When Kane got to a dead end on Grandview Drive, police said she drove into a backyard and got stuck in the mud.

They said she wouldn’t listen to officers, yelled profanities at them and refused to unlock the car doors.

Police had to break a window to unlock the car and get Kane out.

They said as they pulled her out, she continued to fight them, even scratching an officer’s arm. Police tased her to get her under control, according to a report.

Kane faces charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, fleeing and eluding police and DUI.

She is currently being held in the Mercer County Jail.
