General Motors wants the lawsuit filed by United Automobile Workers Union dismissed.

The UAW union is suing General Motors, alleging a breach of labor contract related to the Lordstown plant — and others — being unallocated.

In a court filing dated March 21, GM attorneys said the union failed to exhaust grievance procedures according to the collective bargaining agreement and that while there are still outstanding grievances filed in connection to the plant closures, a lawsuit cannot be filed.

UAW alleges in its lawsuit that GM failed to comply with a Plant Closing and Sale Moratorium letter, which the UAW says prohibits the company from closing or idling any plant during the term of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

According to the lawsuit, the agreement covers October 25, 2015 through September 14, 2019.
