MAHONING VALLEY, Ohio (WKBN) – Trees have fallen all over the Valley due to the strong winds.
Raul Lopez, a Campbell resident, faced some damage.
“I was in the store, when I came back I put my stuff inside the garage — in about 10 minutes, I decided to look out the back window,” Lopez said. “I saw that tree down, smashed my garage.”
Lopez says he’s grateful he didn’t park his Jeep in the garage, or else it would have been smashed, too.
“I said, ‘Well, nothing I can do, you know,'” Lopez said.
In the 30 years he’s lived in Campbell, he says he’s never seen winds like this.
“Over here, we have some wind — but not that strong,” Lopez said. “I said, ‘Oh, my God, I hope it don’t take my tree down’ — and look what happened.”
Lopez says he is just grateful that no one was injured.
Meanwhile, in Brookfield, a father was also sharing the same gratitude. He wants to remain anonymous, but he did send me this photo.
His 19-year-old son left his bedroom just 10 minutes before a branch before a branch broke through the roof. The father says he is so grateful his son wasn’t in the room at the time.
Jim Cantelupe lives in Youngstown on Old Furnace Road. He says he is so grateful that he still has a livable home.
“We had one come through last week and hit a tree just ahead of this one, and it almost hit that house,” Cantelupe said. “This is a bigger tree, and it came down the same exact way, except it tore up this big root ball, and it almost hit that house as well. Lord loves me — kept it from smashing my house.”
Below is a gallery of just some of the local damage.
