Friday marks 35 years since Idora Park fire

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Friday marks an important day in Mahoning Valley history. It was 35 years ago that Idora Park caught fire.

A welders torch caught the Lost River ride on fire. It then spread to the Wildcat roller coaster, the park office and concession stands.

Damages totaled $2.5 million.

The park opened for the season but closed for good that September.
