Fowler Township awarded $42,000 grant for traffic safety

Local News

The Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Ohio Traffic Safety Office has decided to award Fowler Township a $42,000 grant for federal traffic safety funding.

The department will host the Trumbull County Safe Communities Program for the 2019 federal fiscal year.

The township said educating people about traffic safety, seat belt use, distracted driving and sober driving through the Safe Community program has improved safety for people in Trumbull County.

Money from the grant will go toward events promoting traffic safety, along with offering educational and informational items and demonstrations.

“Partnerships are critical to the success of any safety effort and we are committed to working with safety partners to address traffic safety concerns in Trumbull County,” said Police Chief Michael Currington.

Safe Communities also partners with the Trumbull County OVI Task Force and Ohio State Highway Patrol.
