PORTAGE CO., Ohio (WKBN) – A superintendent for Windham Exempted Village Schools is charged with two counts of sexual battery and one count of intimidation of a crime victim.

Laura Amero has been placed on administrative leave. Her pay is pending the outcome of the investigation by the Windham Police Department.

Authorities say both victims were male students. One student, now 18, says between February 2017 and May 2017, Amero engaged in sexual activity.

Another student, now 19, says between September 2015 and May 1, Amero tried to engage in sexual conduct with him.

During both incidents, she worked for the school.

Amero is also accused of trying to intimidate someone involved in the case around March 28 of this year. An indictment claims she tried to keep the person from filing charges against her.

She was being held in the Portage County Jail, but posted her $350,000 bond on Monday and was released.

Amero’s next court hearing is scheduled for May 31.

Editor’s note: This story is corrected to show that Amero’s bond was set at $350,000.
