A Jamestown Borough employee is facing charges after an investigation of theft in Mercer County.

Annamarie Lee Geiwitz, 48, is charged with theft by unlawful taking, theft of services, theft by deception, receiving stolen property and access device fraud.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Geiwitz was the Jamestown’s secretary from November 2016 to September 2018, during which time several suspicious transactions were discovered.

Police said an internal audit showed that Geiwitz purchased personal items using the borough’s credit cards, added to her paychecks and obtained insurance coverage without Council’s approval.

In total, $7,902 in funds were used without approval, according to investigators.

Charges against Geiwitz were filed on Thursday.

Her bail is set at $25,000, and she’s scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on March 13.
