Several community groups have had their say when it comes to the new CEO of Youngstown City Schools.
The Academic Distress Commission hired a search firm to help find good candidates.
The firm conducted 11 different focus groups with civic organizations, parents and staff. Overwhelmingly, people said they wanted the same things.
“Somebody who’s going to be a listener, somebody who’s not going to move and make more changes too quickly,” said John Richard, a member of the Academic Distress Commission. “Another theme I saw was somebody with high integrity and ethics.”
People also said they wanted someone who was committed to the city and school district.
First round interviews will be held next week, with final interviews on April 24. The commission hopes to have a candidate named by the end of the month.
