First snow of the year hits the Valley

Local News

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – For the most part, the snow has let up.

But we could still be dealing with some slick conditions for your morning commute.

We didn’t get much accumulation to stick from the first snow fall of the year. The Vienna Airport recorded almost 3 inches of snow, but it’s mostly melted now. ODOT crews were already out before it came down yesterday treating the roads.

There were about 200 crews out pretreating the roads We’re told about 15 crews were working between Mahoning and Trumbull Counties.

Although our area didn’t get much, roads could still be slick and ODOT wants to remind drivers to prepare.

“Make sure you get out of the house maybe an hour, 30 minutes early. give yourself plenty of time on the road. It always takes all of us a little bit to get used to driving in the snow again. We’re all used to it. We all live here but it just takes a little bit to get used to remember how to drive in the snow. So please leave early,” said ODOT District Four Public Information Officer Ray Marsch.

First News captured flurries coming down in Weathersfield as well.
