BROOKFIELD TWP., Ohio (WKBN) — Three firefighters were treated after a fire at a Brookfield business on Tuesday night.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday, crews were called out to Lee’s Excavating on Warren-Sharon Road.

Eight fire departments and Brookfield Police Department responded.

According to a Facebook post by Brookfield Fire/EMS, crews arrived on the scene and found heavy fire in a construction company maintenance garage area with flames extending into other sections of the building. Because of the age and construction of the building, crews had a difficult time overhauling the area and found many hidden pockets of fire.

Firefighters were on the scene until 11:30 pm.

Firefighters said the building and some of its contents suffered major damage, though the owner was fortunate that the fire didn’t consume the entire building and a lot of his equipment was able to be salvaged.

One firefighter was transported from the scene to the hospital for evaluation, and two others were treated on the scene for heat stress and fatigue. No civilian injuries were reported.

The fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
