BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Construction is now underway for the third and final phase at the new Spartan Stadium.

Boardman High School students, the booster club and school leaders broke ground on a building next to the stadium.

It’ll include both boys and girls locker rooms complete with a total of 134 lockers, concessions with an eating area, public restrooms and ticket booths.

“Kind of finish out this facility and really make this the first-class facility all around…that we wanted it to be,” said Bruce Flyak, with the Boardman Booster Club. “It’s great for student athletes and for the whole community.”

The booster club is donating $800,000. When combined with private donations, the grand total to get the project done is $3 million.

Planning for the entire stadium project began over ten years ago.

The third, final phase of the project is expected to be finished by fall.
