Family dog dies in Mercer Co. fire

A young family in Greenville is safe after a fire burned down their trailer home Monday night.

A fire broke out at the home along North State Line Road. 

A passerby called firefighters for help around 9:40 p.m.

The fire raged through the trailer. The structure is a total loss. 

A couple and their 9-month-old child were not home at the time. Their dog died in the fire. 

The Red Cross is helping the family. 

Crews from Jamestown, Hempfield, Pymatuning, Burghill and Kinsman were called to help.

The fire is under investigation.
