Friends and family gathered in Boardman on Saturday to celebrate Shannon Graves, a Youngstown woman who was murdered in 2017 who would have turned 30 on Sunday.
The group met at Southcreek Apartments to release paper lanterns.
“I just want to celebrate Shannon’s life. It was taken too soon. Her friends miss her. Her family misses her and to get everybody together, it means a lot,” said Debra DePaul, Grave’s sister.
Graves was originally reported missing by her family in February 2017.
The 28-year old’s body was eventually found inside a freezer at a Campbell home five months later.
Her ex-boyfriend and another woman are charged in her murder.
Attendees at the gathering stayed more over two hours.
