WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Warren man is in jail facing charges in connection to the city’s latest homicide.
It happened just before 11 a.m. Wednesday morning at the high-rise apartment complex on Tod Avenue.
“We getting justice for my brother,” said Monique Owens, the victim’s sister.
Owens and her brother, Larry Owens, say their brother, Bernard Owens, was killed inside the Riverview Apartments.
“I don’t know why they would do this, Nadine. I have no why — senseless, stupid,” Monique said.
“He got a little girl that loves him to death, would chew the ground off. He’s with her every day, would chew the ground off about her dad. Now she don’t got a daddy,” Larry said.
Police were initially called to the apartment complex for a possible assault on the fourth floor.
Caller: “I don’t know what’s going on. He got off the elevator bleeding and he’s bleeding out of his nose and his mouth.”
When officers arrived, they said they found a man had been shot.
Investigators were able to identify Cedrick Patterson as a suspect.
“I just can’t believe somebody would do this to my brother. Why? This is senseless. Over nonsense. Like, why?” Monique said.
Patterson was booked into the Trumbull County Jail on a murder charge. He was arraigned Thursday. No bond was set.
