EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (WKBN) — The part-time mayor of East Palestine Thursday received the full support of the man known to many as “America’s Mayor,”
Rudy Giuliani made a visit to the village this morning and met with Mayor Trent Conaway and Valley Congressman Bill Johnson.
Afterward, they met with reporters and Giuliani promised to use his New York City-based radio talk show to spread the word about the long-term rebuilding of this community.
“I’m gonna do anything he wants. I’ll go travel places, I’ll go raise money, anything that he want to help him because I like this man. This is the kind of mayor you gotta have when you’re in this kind of situation,” Giuliani said.
Giuliani says he and the mayor spoke about the similarities and differences between this train derailment here and the 9/11 terrorist attack on New York.
Former U.S. representative Tulsi Gabbard was also in town.
Gabbard tweeted the following earlier Thursday morning:
“I spent the day in East Palestine, Ohio with inspiring residents who have faced this toxic catastrophe with resilience and hope, despite lack of support from our leaders and federal govt. I had Deja vu seeing the American people need to beg our leaders for basic support in times of disaster, exposing how little they care about us.”
