EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (WKBN) – The East Palestine Fire Department is showing off a new addition to its department, a new ambulance.

Squad 1 [the ambulance] will help the department cover medical emergencies.

East Palestine took two ambulances out of service after the derailment.

It was able to find this unit fast, with help of a local dealer, Penn Care, which had it in stock.
The new ambulance is better than the one it’s replacing.

“It has some upgrades for safer compartmentation in the back, meeting new standards in the ambulance market, four-wheel drive for remote rural areas and starting your chassis with the truck chassis,” said East Palestine Fire Chief Keith Drabick.

The model is built to handle extreme conditions.

The new ambulance will be put in service later this week.
