An addiction recovery specialist in East Liverpool is remaining optimistic, but cautious, about the medical marijuana dispensary coming to the city.
Josh Lytle, with Family Care Ministries, knows the setbacks recovering addicts could face.
“That’s a concern of mine. Is someone going to go and say that they have these symptoms, go through the process, possibly be able to get that and then use it to fill that void?” he said. “That’s when we see it become a habit, and an addiction and then a stronghold in someone’s life and, ultimately, that’s what we’re fighting against.”
Lytle said like with everything else, only time will tell how this will affect people in recovery or struggling to overcome addiction.
He said he trusts the city’s leadership and law enforcement in their decision.
