A police dog with the East Liverpool Police Department inhaled a small amount of crack cocaine Tuesday during a drug arrest.
According to East Liverpool police, officers were responding to reports of someone driving erratically in the city. The vehicle was pulled over on Dresden Avenue.
K-9 unit Nero was called to the scene and found crack cocaine inside the car along with and 92 packaged bindles of heroin.
During the search, police say Nero inhaled some of the crack cocaine and his handler immediately administered first aid.
A veterinarian with Sunny Ridge Veterinary Clinic was in the area on farm visits and was immediately able to treat Nero at the police station. The dog was checked out and is fine.
