East High School basketball player arrested

An East High School student caught violating the terms of his house arrest is going to stay locked up in the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center for the time being.

In a photo, you can see the student wearing his electronic monitoring bracelet while playing in a J-V basketball game this week between East and Ursuline.

He had initially been arrested on a rape charge in December and placed on house arrest — only allowed to leave home for school without permission.

We’re told he did not have permission to play in the game.

After a hearing Thursday morning, the student was ordered to stay in detention.

His trial is set for late March.
