Drug overdose numbers on the rise again in Trumbull County

TRUMBULL CO., Ohio (WKBN) – After falling last year, the number of drug overdoses in Trumbull County is again on the rise despite still being below its peak from two years ago.

On Monday, the Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board reported there were 77 overdoses in April 2019 compared to 46 in April 2018 and 108 in April 2017.

Overdoses for the first four months of the year stack up the same way with 217 so far this year, 158 last year and 415 in 2017.

Some additional numbers from so far this year:
– The Niles 44446 zip code had the most drug overdoses (14)
– 76% of overdoses were men
– 67% were between the ages of 20 and 40
– The day of the week when most drug overdoses occurred was Tuesday
