(WKBN) - Youngstown and Warren are known as food deserts, communities that do not have grocery stores that provide fresh food options.
One national retailer could be changing that.
Dollar General is looking at adding fresh produce and meat at 450 of its stores by the end of the year.
The stores would be located in communities where no grocery store options exist.
Dollar General is also adding yogurt, nuts, veggie snacks and other healthier food options.
