Customer irate over Coke purchase at Youngstown store

Local News

Youngstown police are investigating after a clerk was attacked Tuesday inside a convenience store on the city’s south side.

According to a police report, a woman pulled up to the drive-thru window at the Southside Mart and asked for a Coke.

The clerk told the woman the Coke was 75 cents and wanted her to pay first before she handed over the soda.

The woman became irate and argued with the clerk to give her the Coke first, but the clerk said she would not hand it over until the woman paid.

The woman came into the store and confronted the clerk, slapped her and then hit her over the head with a plastic shopping basket, according to the report.

The woman took off, but the clerk wrote down her license plate number. Officers looked for the vehicle but couldn’t immediately locate it.
