WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A house in Warren was damaged by fire Tuesday night.
It happened around 9:15 p.m. at a house in the 700 block of Austin Avenue.
Firefighters reported a difficult situation when fighting the fire due to what they called a hoarding situation.
“With a lot of contents that produces a very high fire load as well as becoming a danger for firefighters getting entangled in things and falling down and so forth,” said Warren Fire Department Chief Ken Nussle.
The homeowner died a few weeks ago. The family was in the process of removing everything inside the home.
The house was boarded up Wednesday morning.
The chief says the fire started in the basement and spread to the first floor.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
