YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Crews responded to the scene of a two-car crash involving a Mahoning County sheriff’s detective in Youngstown Monday.
The crash happened on Oak Street near N. Medina Street.
Officials said a car crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a car driven by Detective Bob Smith, who was assigned to Mahoning County Children Services.
At one point, nearly half-a-dozen ambulances were there, including units from both the Liberty and Canfield fire departments because local companies had no ambulances to send.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital. They were both wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, preventing more serious injuries.
One officer called it a public service announcement for wearing your seat belt in the car.
