Crash causes pickup to spin out, flip over, killing North Jackson woman

Local News

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed a North Jackson woman.

The crash happened at the intersection of Rosemont and Blott roads in Jackson Township just after 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Investigators say the driver of a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, 46-year-old Michael Romigh, of Boardman, was heading west on Rosemont Road and didn’t stop at the intersection.

He hit the 2004 Chevy Colorado pickup truck driven by 79-year-old Rachel Wood.

That caused the truck to spin out and flip over into a field. Wood was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Make sure that you’re paying attention at all times, not being distracted,” said Lt. Brad Bucey, with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. “It’s a full-time job driving a vehicle. One second looking away, turning the radio, air conditioning, can change your life forever.”

Romigh was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown with injuries that aren’t life-threatening.

He is expected to be charged.
