Valley Congressman Tim Ryan spoke to WKBN after his announcement that he plans to run for president.
Despite a crowded Democratic field, he said he feels that he can stand out from the competition.
“I think there’s a lot of recognition among voters, especially in the early states of Iowa and New Hampshire, that recognize that the Democratic Party being a coastal party — where our power and influence is concentrated on the coasts — is not a recipe for helping out working-class people,” he said.
Ryan said the party needs to nominate a candidate who comes from a working-class area. He adds that he believes he can unite the party.
