A house fire in East Liverpool was even more dangerous for firefighters because they didn’t’ know what conditions they were facing.
Assistant Fire Chief Anthony Cumo said a neighbor in the 2000 block of Michigan Avenue called 911 about 1:46 a.m. Wednesday to report a fire at the house next door.
When crews got there, flames were shooting from the condemned house. Cumo said all the windows and doors were boarded up, which made it difficult to know the condition inside the house and that firefighters had to use extreme caution.
Crews were able to get the fire under control quickly.
The vinyl siding on the neighbor’s house was damaged by the fire.
No injuries were reported.
