Bringing suburbs together to fight crime was the goal of a planning session on Friday to create change in the city and suburbs of Youngstown.
Leadership teams from every part of Youngstown met to discuss ways to create a crime-free zone.
A citywide rally will take place on April 13 and will coincide with National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
Plans are now underway for four rallies to occur simultaneously at four Youngstown school campuses.
“We believe 28 homicides is too much,” said Jon Howell, of Youngstown. “We gotta do something to bring that down. We believe no one person or side can do it, but working together, it’s definitely possible.”
The committee is also planning a cross display to commemorate Youngstown’s homicide victims.
