YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Youngstown community group unveiled a display on the city’s north side Thursday morning.
Common Wealth wants to remind people of some United Nations goals for the planet. The display on Elm Street shows ideas like quality education and gender equality, as well as peace and justice.
One of the featured speakers was Dr. Mila Rosenthal, a Youngstown native who works in communications for the UN.
Organizers said everyone should be concerned about the planet for future generations.
“A lot of us have not done a good job taking care of the planet thus far,” Jim Converse said. “We’ve treated the planet like a colossal garbage dump, and we need to stop that and move toward reducing waste, reusing things we can and recycling what we can’t. Those are the critical pieces of the program for a sustainable future.”
Common Wealth works to help under-served people and neighborhoods lacking investments around the Youngstown area.
