Work could begin soon on the much-talked-about traffic roundabout coming to a major intersection in Springfield Township.
Thursday morning, Mahoning County Commissioners awarded a $1.4 million contract for the project.
It will change the current intersections of Western Reserve, North Lima and Springfield roads into a “rotary” design, in which traffic can flow more efficiently.
County Engineer Pat Ginnetti said crews will work to keep things moving during the construction process.
“We’re gonna try to maintain, you know, two lanes through the entire project, but again, it’s construction, so it’s going to mean a temporary inconvenience. But again, once it’s finished, traffic’s going to move through there quite well,” he said.
Ginnetti said the project should be completed before the end of this year.
