Columbiana condo damaged by second fire in two days

Local News

COLUMBIANA, Ohio (WKBN) – Crews worked Thursday to control a fire at a condo in Columbiana County.

Firefighters were called about 5:15 a.m. to Timberline Drive in Columbiana where the roof of a condo was on fire.

This same condo unit caught fire Wednesday and the fire Thursday morning was a rekindle.

Neighbors say people were living there but were not home when it rekindled.

The structure contains four condominium units. All four were damaged by either fire or smoke and water, the neighbor said.

No injuries were reported.

Fire officials say right now the cause is undetermined, but they think it could have started in a crawl space.

The head of the homeowners association said he was told an electrical short sparked the fire, and now he is concerned that other units in the complex may have to be inspected to determine the safety of the wiring.

The condo is situated in a culdesac with several other units.

The roof of the condo is burned out.

The state fire marshal is investigating.
